We got things done!

Thank you all for these past two weeks. In the middle of turbulent times and busy schedules, most of you showed up in incredible ways. We used these two “project development sprint” weeks to dive deeper into your projects, to put in practice self assessment tools to learn what is missing in the development of each one of them, how they fit within our general launch campaign and what are your MVPs and goals and milestones before the program finishes. We also had an incredible opportunity to talk with a cohort of incredible mentors.

We will upload some of the sessions in the following days. We’ve also created A LIST OF IMPORTANT LINKS for the whole program, as many of you requested, but here are the 3 main ones that we sent you during the sprint:

  • Self Assessment Mindmap tool (to the right of the timeline) - Use this to see what’s missing in your project and create a Backcasting Milestone document from the premiere day (in March 2021) to today

  • We were excited to share with you our donor deck. Please share it around and introduce us to whoever you think can be of help!

  • We created a new private list of CIRCLE_Resources to share templates, budgets, pitch decks, design files… anything you feel might be useful for your fellow (r)Evolutionaries to move forward with their projects. Please, add resources here and consult the existing ones here.

The first Design Science Salon: Becoming the Regenaissance

In the middle of so many things to announce we ended the week feeling we didn’t put enough love into communicating how important and cool this event is. It’s our first showcase to the world! So here is a bit more context to get you involved :)

What is it?
It’s our first Artist Salon to showcase the progress of the work you are doing. An open & paid event in which we will feature some of you. As it says on the Presence page for the general audience “We invite you to journey into the minds and heARts of 30 of the 144 multidisciplinary international creators from the Design Science Studio who are dedicated to aligning their creative outputs with a world that works for 100% of life over the course of the next 10 years”.

When is it?
Saturday Nov 14th, from 10:30am to 3:30pm PST

Who’s participating?
So far, 20 of you have signed up. We need at least 10 more of you to either present your work progress, share your journey or perform. SIGN UP HERE

What’s the theme?
We've settled on a theme of BECOMING, exploring… Process // Product + Inner transformation // Outer veneer + Intellectualisation // Embodiment.

“The journey is the destination” after all. You illuminate the process of exploring, embedding and embodying the principles of a world that is regenerative and just into your work, and your becoming in that process. Accompanying the presenting creators we will have some of the other transdisciplinary art / science beings who embody becoming at the forefront of our global movement towards regeneration.

The Artist Salon is a 5h live feature where we hold space for:
5 Keynote Talks,
9 Performances
20 Artist Presentations,
that are BECOMING.

What am I supposed to do?
We are calling for 20 studio artists to present their process of becoming as they develop their projects.  This requires great courage in leaning into vulnerability and emergence, opening up with curiosity and gratitude. Share openly about your journey and your project. Express yourself through your art or your words. This is an open-hearted salon to share about your process. In what ways are you becoming in your journey?

If you have questions, write to us. As we said, the event is open to the public! Invite your friends and family, we promise it will be fun.

Sign up. Sign up. Sign up

Also -- we need an MC! A master of ceremonial ceremonies ready to be with us and introduce the guests and capture the audience. Write to us! ;) designsci...@bfi.org

Homework for next week

Our next incredible visionary is Bonnie DeVarco, next Nov. 11th -

This is her in a nutshell: “She has worked with the Fuller Collection at Stanford University for 2 decades and was chief archivist for the Buckminster Fuller Archives at BFI from 1989-1995. Continuing as curator and advisor to BFI, she was a founding member of the advisory committee for the Buckminster Fuller Challenge for a 10 years. She served as a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Stanford University's MediaX program from 2009 to 2012”

She will be speaking about Bucky & Leonardo Renaissance Men 500 Years Apart -

You have two tasks before next Wednesday:

  1. Think about the pre-seed Question: How do you think Buckminster Fuller's work compares to the work of Leonardo da Vinci?

  2. Watch this video

That’s all for now (r)Evolutionaries! We will see you next Monday (remember that we are back at our normal schedule, 8am PST for our normal POD gyshido.
