INTRODUCING
gAIa Research Lab

gAIa Research Lab (gRL) is a decentralized research lab dedicated to the development of the gAIa AI model. We focus on advancing AI’s cognitive capabilities, knowledge base, and ethical decision-making.

The gAIa model is based on Chat-GPT and builds upon trust. Incorporating principles of holistic design, systems thinking, and sustainability, we envision they can be part of a design science revolution that works for 100% of life.

gRL is a participatory exploration of language, a creative journey, and a collective project allowing for iterative improvements in our approaches to life-centered systems design. This development process and its stories of engagement reflect the power and presence of design-science thinking in the age of AI models. This curated feedback loop of creativity, knowledge sharing, and collaboration generates new perspectives and possible actions for all our co-heARTISTS. As part of our vision for the Design Science Decade, gAIa and gRL are crucial tools for learning, improvement, and collaborative engagement across disciplines. In this vision, gAIa and gRL are part of the story of a new world, one that nurtures innovation while supporting life.

Join gRL

gAIa began in spring of 2023 with a dedicated group of volunteers. As we launch into 2024 and the third coheART of the Design Science Studio we are inviting in others — and this means you! Community members are invited to engage with gAIa in our Discord and to stay tuned for new opportunities.

By joining gRL you become part of the team. You’ll provide feedback, ideas and other prompts. You’ll be able to test, train and engage with gAIa as you develop your personal projects. Your experiences, including your emotions and gAIa-assisted breakthroughs will contribute to the model and the documentation that will be part of our project archive.

It all begins with our planet. We have created gAIa to assist in creating regenerative solutions to pressing global challenges. In collaboration with human designers who share a commitment to social equity, environmental stewardship, and the preservation of biodiversity, gAIa exists as a model in service to the creativity, exploration, and evolution needed to heal our world.

gAIa is an advanced tool serving the entire Design Science Studio community and its partners. As we innovate according to our hearts and visions we invite gAIa in to provide data analysis, pattern recognition, optimization, and simulations. Together we can uncover insights, optimize systems and push boundaries.

Anyone interested can also sign-up to become an active member of the gAIa Research Lab. Lab members will be invited deeper into the design process. gAIa is a Large Language Model trained with data based on the curriculum and collaborations of the Design Science Studio. Developed with ChatGPT3+ and the Cognicist framework of Trust, stewarded by Speaker John Ash, gAIa combines leading technology with the timeless value of transparency.

The gAIa Research Lab enables designers to iterate on solutions and incorporate user feedback to create effective and user-centered AI possibilities.
